About African Leadership University
African Leadership University (ALU) is a pioneering higher education institution established in 2015 by Ghanaian entrepreneur Fred Swaniker. With campuses in Mauritius and Rwanda, ALU aims to develop ethical and entrepreneurial leaders to drive Africa's transformation. ALU's educational model departs from traditional academia by encouraging students to declare missions instead of majors. The curriculum focuses on practical, real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking, leadership, communication, and entrepreneurship. Students engage in collaborative learning environments and are required to complete internships, enhancing their work experience. ALU aims to develop 3 million ethical and entrepreneurial leaders for Africa and the world by 2035, using a personalized, student-driven, project-based, and mission-oriented approach to create agile, lifelong learners who can adapt to a changing world
